Pep Guardiola revealed Sergio Aguero will miss the trip to Spurs due to a knee injury, while the City boss will also be without the suspended Fernandinho, limiting his options in central midfield. Ilkay Gundogan now looks set to start alongside David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne after being restricted to an appearance from the bench in Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Liverpool. In Aguero’s absence, Gabriel Jesus is set to lead the line once more. Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane look likely starters in the wide positions with Bernardo Silva offering a worthy alternative. Guardiola will be expected to revert back to his favoured 4-3-3 system after experimenting with a three-man defence against Liverpool, so Vincent Kompany and Fabian Delph are both in line to return after being unused on the bench in Tuesday’s defeat. Nicolas Otamendi and Kyle Walker will be expected to retain their starts, although Danilo is an option should the City boss elect to introduce some fresh legs. Aymeric Laporte is another alternative in central defence. This match comes too soon for Benjamin Mendy who is edging back to full fitness following a long-term injury, while John Stones (groin) isn’t ready to return.
