After returning from injury in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Swansea City, Ander Herrera could come into contention for a starting spot against Manchester City. Jose Mourinho may consider switching from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3, with the Spaniard an option to join Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba in central midfield. Scott McTominay and Marouane Fellaini are other alternatives in the middle of the park. A switch to a 4-3-3 would probably see Juan Mata drop to the bench, given the performances of Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard against the Swans. Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial look set to named among the substitutes once more. Eric Bailly is likely to be recalled after being rested to the bench last weekend, while Phil Jones could return in central defence, with Chris Smalling’s start at risk. Sergio Romero and Daley Blind remain out.
Valencia – Bailly – Smalling – Young
Herrera – Pogba – Matic
