Mo Salah remains a doubt for the Merseyside derby after being forced off with a groin problem in the 3-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. Given the second leg also follows on Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp is likely to be cautious with the Egyptian and could hand Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a role on the right of the front three, with Georginio Wijnaldum coming in alongside Jordan Henderson and James Milner in the midfield three. Alternatively, Klopp could hand Dominic Solanke a rare start, like he did in the previous clash with Everton, allowing Roberto Firmino to take up a flank role. Indeed, Solanke started on the last occasion Salah didn’t feature in a league match, back in Gameweek 22 against Burnley, when Sadio Mane played on the right. Emre Can is also doubtful due to a back injury and could be held back for Tuesday night anyway, given that Henderson is suspended for the second leg. In defence, Alberto Moreno and Nathaniel Clyne are options if Klopp wants to freshen up the full-back areas, although Clyne has yet to play this season, and is lacking match sharpness. Adam Lallana, Ragnar Klavan and Joe Gomez are still unavailable, while Joel Matip is out for the rest of the season.
