Long-awaited back-to-back gameweeks 21 & 22 raised the biggest question so far in this FPL season – what should we all do with Harry Kane in GW21, and of course should we triple-captain him in GW22. The later was an obvious choice. I personally had a plan to TC him. However, this was also probably the easiest deadline to miss, so that’s what happened with me. I’d like to say that missing the deadline paid off to me, however my team was so unbalanced that it couldn’t cope with it. At least my chip is intact. Tottenham had probably already accounted 6 points to their tally, however they lost 2 points to West Ham at Wembley. Liverpool somewhat unexpectedly recorded two 2:1 wins, with the later against Burnley at Turf Moore was due to a late winner from no other than Ragnar Klavan, assisted by no other than Dejan Lovren.
Man City’s winning streak came to an end in GW21 against Crystal Palace. Luka Milivojevic even had a chance to keep all 3 points at Selhurst Park, however he didn’t convert the late penalty! Citizens bounced back in GW22 with 3:1 win against Watford, and so did Milivojević with a winner against Southampton at St. Mary’s. Speaking of Southampton they won a big point in GW21 at Old Trafford, while Man Utd won 0:2 at Goodison in GW22.
Chelsea and Arsenal brought us a really interesting game of football with a 2:2 draw.
Relegation zone is still close to many teams of the league, but Swansea and West Brom are slowly drifting away, as it seems. Third relegation candidate is still hard to tell as even Brighton at 12th position is only one game away from 18th place.
Worst 5 choices of GW21:
Worst 5 choices of GW22:
With 2 gameweeks behind us in a short period of time, several changes occurred in THE WORST TEAM of the season!
Five new faces are in the team comparing to the last recap, and some of those faces are in the squad for the first time of the season!
Heurelho Gomes remains in goal, and there are no surprises there since Watford didn’t have any problem conceding goals lately.
Three new players in our 5-players defense after 22 gameweeks! Lewis Dunk and Adam Smith are now accompanied by Bournemouth’s Simon Francis, Leicester’s Wes Morgan and Stoke’s Kevin Wimmer.
Ashley Barnes is our only forward at the moment, as currently our midfield has 4 footballers: James McClean and Tom Davies are already in the squad for some time, while Isaac Hayden of Newcastle is back in it. Huddersfield’s Danny Williams is the latest fresh face added to the worst team of the season.
Let’s try my luck with some more predictions, and hope I’ll do it tiniest bit better this year. Even though this predictions are made almost whole 7 days before GW23:
Chelsea – Leicester: Chelsea are clear favorite in this game. Even though Leicester is no strange to upsetting favorites, this match is Chelsea’s to lose.
Crystal Palace – Burnley: Palace really upped their game recently, but one cannot stop admiring Burnley’s season. Therefore, I wish Burnley to win this game.
Huddersfield – West Ham: Possibly interesting game to watch, as West Ham started playing better and climbed up the table a bit. From Huddersfield, you don’t know what to expect in term of results, but games are nice to watch.
Newcastle – Swansea: Newcastle has to start winning comfortably these kinds of games. On the other hand, if Swansea are hoping to win some points away this season, it should be places like St James Park.
Watford – Southampton: Southampton is tied for a relegation zone place. That says enough about the way they play this season. Watford on the other side are kind of all over the place this season. However, I think Watford is more than capable of winning this game.
West Brom – Brighton: Brighton deserves it more. West Brom deserve very little this season.
Spurs – Everton: Tottenham are favorite for this match, but they’ll have to cope with Big Sam’s away game tactic. Harry Kane was quite when everyone counted on him, so it probably means that he’ll score big in GW23, but only if enough of you transfer him out.
Bournemouth – Arsenal: It would be really unfair to say I’m expecting Bournemouth to upset Arsenal. Gooners should win this match.
Liverpool – Man City: We all know how Man City thrashed Reds last time. We’ll see how Liverpool will cope with loosing Coutinho, and will they be able to bring someone fast. Or will they even try. On the other end, Man City is no strange to bringing in players, and everyone is speaking about Alexis Sanchez for about as long as they were speaking about Van Dijk or Coutinho. However, this is the derby of the gameweek, and let’s all hope it is going to be an interesting game! Even though Man City are playing in a league of their own.
Man Utd – Stoke: Stoke are really bad this season. Ok, they sacked Mark Hughes, but let’s see who they’ll be able to bring in.
Good luck FPL managers!
